Dreams 19

This dream joins me in progress at a bar with John Bennett and some friends from my work, Manny and Armando. I order and receive a special edition 22 oz Miller Lite Stout, and begin drinking it out of a bucket glass, next to Manny who is drinking a big Heinenkin out of a little highball glass. Armando keeps taking my beer and leads me on a good-natured chase to various spots around the crowded, woodpaneled, smoky bar. A good time is had by all.....This dream swiftly transistions to me watching this video i shot on my cell phone of this girl in a bikini laying on her stomach on a surfboard, and the camera follows behind her smoothly as she paddles out into the waves and disappears, then cuts to some guys that are crying and trying to find her. it's a really cool cell phone video. Then, after the bar and after the video, and somewhere in the middle of the night, i watch the tide go from really high to really low, and tidal waves begin to form. At first they are only 30 to 40 feet high and i am walking away from the beach and weaving through buildings to avoid them, not panicked but just kind of a casual, joyous escape. Sometimes tail ends of waves catch me up and i ride them out, careful to avoid smashing into hard objects. i call John, to warn him, cause in my dream he has a crib close to the beach, but no answer. i decide to round up people and get to a safe place, and the waves start becoming spectacularly large, thousands of feet in the air, so tall that they look thin and graceful, sparkling in the moonlight. They're so beautiful, i see dozens of them as i make my winding way to a safe place, gathering people as i go, call John once and awhile to try to get him out of there. Sometimes little flood waves get us but none of those gigantic, majestic waves crushes us, luckily. They're really sparkly though. Finally it becomes daylight, we've been walking away from the ocean all night, and we arrive at my safe place, Denny's. I call John one last time and get an answering machine that says 'Toby, stop calling, i'm asleep.' and then i wake up.
